Upcoming Health Care Reform Changes Affect Affordable Health Insurance Quotes- Effective September 23, 2010
Wellpoint Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield just announced (and all of the other health insurance carriers will be announing) that due to the new changes resulting from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that they will be required to update their plans and rates that will be effective September 23. Essentially, all health insurance quotes will be going up and the difference of an effective date of September 22, 2010 and September 23, 2010 could save you $1,000’s of dollars.
Based on this information, it is very important that if you are looking at putting an individual or family health insurance plan into place sooner than later. You do not wait too long and miss your opportunity! All Carriers (Anthem, Medical Mutual of Ohio, Aetna, Humana, United healthcare, and others) are going to be required to include certain benefits and that will raise rates. By putting the plan in place prior to September 23, 2010 you will be able to lock your rates into place for one year and take advantge of the savings.
This brings into consideration a few specific thoughts and action points to best position your family:
- You may want to look at re-writing your current policy to take advantage of the savings for one full year.
- You may want to look at putting a policy in place sooner than you had originally planned.
Here are a few of the changes that will be made on the new September 23, 2010 effective date plans:
- People under age 19 will no longer have pre-existing conditions held against them
- There will no longer be annual or life time maximums allowed on plans.
Change is here and we got what we asked for…. now we just have to figure out how to pay for it. This is not the time to sit back and wait, make sure that you address this issue and how it effects your family health insurance planning. Affordable health insurance quotes qill not be as easy to find in the coming year.
