Don’t go without health insurance between jobs or after graduation

New Numbers from the Census Bureau reveal that a whopping 13 million young Americans don’t have a health insurance policy. Are you one of them? You guys, this is scary: Young adults  and graduating students between the ages 19 to 29 are the largest age group of uninsured people across the country. And with the economy in a slump, that number is sure keep growing.

A lot of young people don’t bother getting insurance right after they graduate or when they are in between jobs. Because they are young and healthy, they don’t think much about the gap in coverage. But what happens if you have to make an unexpected visit to the E.R.? That bill far outweighs any money you’ve saved by not getting an insurance plan in the first place. Some didn’t have coverage for one month when switching jobs, and can end up with a big medical bill if you have to see the doctor during that time.

So what can someone without insurance do? You can check to see if you are still elgible on your parents plan, or getting an individual policy is typically a great bet.  Affordable policies are out there and can be found online by doing some easy searching. You can go to Chaser Insurance Group’s website: http://www.healthinsurancechaser.com/ and apply online or call 1-877-775-4321 to speak to an unbiased agent to get quotes from many different carriers:  Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, United Health Care, Aetna, American Community, Medical Mutual and more.
