Health Care Reform Update: Removing lifetime & dollar limits for essential health benefits
As a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), or Health Care Reform Bill, health insurance carriers must remove lifetime limits and annual dollar limits on covered services that are determined to be “essential health benefits”. These essential health benefits are determined by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Americans can expect to see such changes implemented by September 23, 2010.
Although the HHS has not disclosed the list of essential health benefits, it’s believed that these benefits will be issued in the coming weeks. For details regarding these changes, please stay posted.
